22 January 2008 - Sports, Politics and More...like everyday

The Tennessee Volunteers are now NUMBER THREE in the AP Poll!!!!  Tonight, they are in Lexington to take on the boo-hoo Blue of Kentucky led by Billy Gillespie.

DO you think that by now that the Wildcat faithful are wishing they had Tubby Smith back??  7 and 9 so far this season.  Hmmm....maybe.

Now, if I can get Jet Roberts to say NUMBER THREE TENNESSEE and not number FIVE.  What do coaches know anyway?

After seeing the highlights, if you can call them that, of the Democrat debate from last night, I am the only one who thought that the Ambulance Chaser was having to play the role of Admiral Stockdale from the 1992 Presidential Debates.  Senator Clinton and Senator Obama were pretty much shouting each other down, trying to tell us who hate President Reagan and his policies more, while ignoring the man in third place.

When the Ambulance Chaser was able to speak, he seemed to be a little lost and wondering why his $400 haircut did not get him more attention.

I guess that the man who was down on the mat and out of the race back in June is becoming the Republican Comeback Kid.  Senator John McCain does not officially have the lead in the GOP race, but he does seem to have the momentum.

Some would say that it is his moderate positions on various issues.  Some would say it is the fact that the media loves a guy who bucks the GOP establishment.

I would say both sides are wrong.

John McCain is open to the media and has been for the past eighteen years.  They like his openness more than anything else.  The media perceives McCain as moderate.  BUT, if you look at most of his positions, he is a lot more conservative that people think.  However, the fact that he comes across as more openminded that other Republican candidates is what is really makes him appealing.

Even pundits like Robert Novak now see that McCain may have to be accepted by the GOP powers as their nominee.

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves.

Poor Fulton, New York!  Now only buried under 3 feet of snow, but the roof of their snowplow garage collapsed.

And 3-6 inches more are on the way.
