12 February 2008 - Lincoln's birthday

Lincoln would be 199 if he was alive today.

And no matter what you might think, even if Booth hadn't visited him in the balcony, he'd still be dead.

Speaking of Lincoln, many refer to Abraham Lincoln as being our greatest President.  But chew on this for a moment.  Look at the number of actions that Lincoln took which were outside the Constitution.  Suspension of habeus corpus, imprisonment of journalists, imprisonment of others, use of an income tax.  Hmm...

Does ANY OF THIS sound familiar?

I doubt that we will look back on another President with such favor.

So, why Lincoln?  Because he held the Union together.  He did not speak in terms of fear.  He acted on it, but didn't speak on it.

History is interesting, isn't it?

----------------

There is an Indiana voter identification law at the Supreme Court.  The issue, some say..as in the American Civil Liberties Union...that requiring ID is an illegal poll tax.  You have GOT to be kidding me.

Georgia has gone round and round on this same issue.

Now, Missouri is going to enter the debate.

OK, here is the ONLY part of the argument that I can possibly agree with.  IF the cost of getting a State ID or Drivers License is so great that one cannot afford it, then it is a de facto poll tax.  Here is how you get around that.  Offer free ID's to those who cannot afford them.  Problem solved.

That is what Georgia thought.  That was struck down.  Getting a ride to the place to get the free ID was the issue.

OK, give folks a ride to the place.

Idiots travel in packs.  Sadly, they also legislate in packs.  What is wrong with us?  Why do we keep sending them back?

Maybe I don't WANT to know.

Do your part for campaign finance reform.  Click on the ads found on this page from the candidate/s that you DON'T like.  A few pennies will leave them, and go to me.  It ain't much, but hell, who would you rather see have the pocket change?  (Please say me, please say me, please say me......)
