20 February 2008 - Once Upon A Time
Once upon a time, there was a candidate seeking the highest office in the land. This candidate started working at the community level and built support from there. The candidate was known for being a skillful orator. As this candidate was seeking the largest office of the land, the candidate was able to fill stadiums and arenas full of supporters.
The candidate talked of things that hit home with the people. The candidate was quite the populist. It seemed that most everyone liked what they were hearing from the candidate.
Who is the candidate? Post your answer in comments.

Michelle Obama got in a little hot water with her comments on Monday. Had it happened once, this could have been accepted as a slip of the tongue. It happened in both Milwaukee and Madison...slight changes in the actually wording. But what she said was widely reported on Tuesday.
In a conversation about this statement at my house last night, my mom offered that there are two Americas. Things are different for African-Americans. While I agree with that view, I disagree with that general statement.
How we view our great nation is like how we view a joke. It is all perspective. In other words, there are over 300 million Americas.
Now, many are ripping Michelle Obama for her comments. I will not be among them. Rather, I feel sorry for Michelle Obama for having such a negative perspective.
I cannot assume to know what led her to this view. I can say that from my view, I was very proud to be an American when we WON the Cold War without having to come to blows. And even though it was in Germany and a German even, I was proud to be an American when the Berlin Wall came down...because I knew how involved we were in that happening. I was proud of my nation when we helped liberate Kuwait back in 1991. I was proud of the unity that I saw in America following the attacks of September 11, 2001.
Michelle Obama hasn't felt what I have felt. So, don't be angry with her. Feel sorry for her.
I sincerely do. And I hope you can feel the same way.

Sports time. Who will be the coach of the Indiana Hoosiers this time next year? Hell, next week.
There is an old saying, if you sleep with the dogs don't be surpised when you wake up with fleas. Kelvin Sampson broke rules concerning phone calls to recruits whil the head basketball coach at Oklahoma. Now, he is accused of doing the same thing at Indiana. He job situation seems to be day to day.
Indiana University, I hear that Bob Knight is retired. Maybe.....naahhh.

And finally, I said this on the air yesterday and I am waiting to hear this come up from some political spin doctor. Fidel Castro calls it quits, right. How long until someone credits President Bush with this?
He deserves credit for a many things, the capitulation of Libya as one example, but this is NOT something that ANY AMERICAN deserves credit for.
