If you missed this past weekend's Capital City Cookoff, you missed an incredible event.....especially Friday night's Buck-A-Bone People's Choice contest.
I will admit that in the second year of the event, again the weather left something to be desired. However, Friday night was indoors with some great music as well as some excellent ribs.
I think next year, we need to offer a special rib bib apron. Here is what I noticed. A lot of people needed a hand for their rib, a hand for their drink....and ran out of hands. I think we should design a special apron/bib that will hold the rib bones with before and after bins.
OK, so that is probably a silly idea. Maybe we need to get those helmets that hold a balanced two drinks and have straws to make things easier.

Some people have NO RESPECT for the property of others. After feeling so good over the number of people who came out on Friday night to show their support for the Capital City Cookoff and help us raise money for the Special Learning Center Foundation, something stupid happened that brought me back to reality.
I went to Hy-Vee on Saturday to pickup some groceries. When I came out of the store, two shopping carts were shoved against my car.
I openly admit that I do not have a nice car. This is true. It is a 1997 Ford Taurus and it has a few dings on it.
Now, it has a few more because someone was too lazy to put their shopping cart in the corrals. I am left to wonder how a person has such little respect for other people's property.
I admit that I do not have a nice car. I admit that I would like something nicer, but this is what I have. It runs, and since my last visit to Mike Kehoe's Quicklane, it stops.
I guess my attitude is simple and can be best illustrated by paraphrasing from "Animal House"....you SHOULDN'T do that to my car, only I can do that to my car.
I guess the so-called "Golden Rule" has either been forgotten, or possibly never been taught, to some people.
That is just plain sad.

Hillary Clinton is jumping on Barack Obama over some "elitist comments" he made last week. She is right, but clearly, she is the WRONG one be delivering that message to him.
I wonder if she will be under fire for those comments.

Add your comments as you see fit. Trust me, you will not be called elitist nor be under fire. From snipers, nor me.
