16 April 2008 - Pope visits the United States, Jimmy Carter visits Arafat's grave

Pope Benedict XVI arrived in Washington yesterday.  To non-Catholics, this is probably not that big of a deal.  To me, a bad Catholic, it was fascinating.

President and Mrs. Bush, joined by their daugher Jenna, greeted the Holy Father at Andrews Air Force Base.  I do not recall ever seeing a President going out to meet a foreign leader on their arrival.

Unlike his predecessor, Benedict is not as extroverted.  When he was known as Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, many saw him as the intellectual and conservative voice of the Roman Catholic Church.

Three years ago, when he was named Pope, many were disappointed because he was NOT in the mold of John Paul II.  But knowing the problems that the Church faces today, and even though he is not going to have the term length of John Paul II, he may be the right man to fix the wrongs in the recent past of the Church.

It will be interesting to see.

It will also be interesting to see how he is received in Washington and New York where the freaks come out of the woodwork to act inappropriately.

Tomorrow, he will appear at Nationals Park.

No, he will not be throwing batting practice.

Meanwhile, in the Middle East, former U.S. President (what were we thinking?????) Jimmy Carter is honoring a known and admitted terrorist by placing a wreath on his grave.  Carter visited the grave of Yassir Arafat on Tuesday.

Carter said that Arafat fought for the Palestinians and "other just causes" during his life.

Thank you Mr. Carter for giving a terrorist your vote of confidence.  Thank you for letting the world that terrorism is OK as long as it is for a just cause.

When people like Jimmy Carter open their mouths and say things this stupid, and there is NO OTHER WAY for me to describe it, it makes the world a more dangerous place.  He gives them power.  He is assisting in the terror.

I used to think he was a decent man.  This made me finally say once and for all, he is the WORST President in my lifetime and not a good man.  He is a misguideded man.

Others think he may be acting on behalf of our government.

That makes Jimmy Carter dangerous.
