16 May 2008 - Last Day of the Session, can't hold anything back.

Today is the final day of the 2008 Missouri General Assembly's Regular Session.  This means a busy and possibly LONG day for KLIK News Anchor David Gaines.

For me, I am attending a meeting at Ben's school then hitting the links.  I got some new adidas golf shoes, too.

I think I have the better day.

---------------

Tomorrow, I have to work.  It will be fun as I will be at our drawing party for our "Fantasy Vacation Giveaway" at Mike Kehoe Ford.  Any time I get to meet some of the listeners to the show is a lot of fun.  I really enjoy it.  My only regret is.....I can't get the $2000 for a vacation myself.

OK, so President Bush made a comment to the Israeli Knesset regarding other Americans who want to use the "false hope of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."

This was taken as a direct attack on Barack Obama.  In fact, every Democrat who has spoken out has made this connection.

While, this was probably implied by President Bush, and certainly inferred by all the Democrats, I think it was a directed comment BUT with an added more general swipe.

It was easy to see this as a swipe at Senator Obama, but this was really a further reaching comment toward the Democrat base which has a whole movement toward appeasement.  Barack Obama is just one of the most vocal.

If that is perceived as a political attack, so?

Now, the other criticism is where President Bush made his comments.  Well, sorry, but I see the Israeli Knesset as one of the most appropriate places to make the statement.  The United Nations General Assembly being the other.

But, that is because I take a macro look at things.

And maybe I am a bit hawkish.  I think if it comes to using force, we use it.  Don't back down...with all due respect to Tom Petty.

Actually, I am kind of a Teddy Roosevelt guy.  Speak softly and carry a big stick.  And remember, the stick isn't worth anything unless you make it known that you are willing to use it.

That worked for Buford Pusser.  He knew the costs were high.  He still did the right thing.

The Royals extended their winning streak to FOUR on the 55th Birthday of Number 5 (George Brett).  BUT, they hit the road this weekend.

Will Smith reference, goin' to Miami.  Facing the Florida Marlins...a surprisingly hot team.  Then again, the Royals are surprisingly hot this week.  We will see what happens.

Have a GREAT Weekend! Add comments...and thanks for the kind comments and e-mails from yesterday.  Yes, even you Dean Morgan.

Communication does not necessarily equal appeasement.
