Today's title may grab your attention, but in all honesty there is really nothing earth shattering in it. 

Here is the Vanity Fair article that got Bubba in a little fit. 

I have read through the first couple of pages of it prior to posting this link.  I will read more later, but seriously, it will not change my opinion of Bill Clinton in the least.

(And for those who do not know, my opinion is that Bill Clinton wasted more opportunities as President than anyone in my lifetime.  He got underserved credit for an economy that was NOT as good as many wish to remember.  He also spend a lot of his time and attention on more personal gain, financially and, ahem, other.  He weakened our military by over deploying them while also cutting their numbers.  I could continue, but I think you get my point.  If you don't, drop me an e-mail with any questions.)

Many of you who read this blog may still have your heads in the sand over this man. 

A lot of the American public has been charmed by this man, which I never understood. 

But his hot tempered response, that even included name calling, to this Vanity Fair article hopefully highlights the lack of character this man has exhibited throughout his life.

One thing that I did pick out of the article.  The author notes a parallel between Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.  Both are mostly unknown, and both have charmed there way through their campaigns to this point.

I will add another point.  Both came to fame, or notoriety, from speeches given at the Democratic National Convention four years prior.

You have heard me state, ad nauseum, that we are not, by definition, in a recession.  Last week, I saw that growth in the first quarter of 2008 was actually higher than the first quarter of 2007.

That said, this economic downturn is hurting everyone.  

Even the Kersting family.

Nothing extra will be happening for us.  No vacations.  Kathleen will fly to Michigan next month, up on a Saturday then back on Tuesday, to finally bury her mother (who passed away in February 2007...and yes, she has been cremated).  We MAY make it up to my 20th high school reunion.  I really, really, want to go but I do not know if that will happen or not.

Two years ago, we were able to take the boys to Walt Disney World for four days.  It was on a shoestring due to the outrageous fuel prices of $2.89 a gallon.

I really wanted to do something nice for the boys this summer.  It is just not going to happen.

Now, I am sharing this to let you know that I am in the same situation that most of you are.  It hurts.  It hurts a LOT.

Dammit, it is outright depressing.

I wanted to clarify things because some of the statements that I have made in the past may have left some of you thinking that I was dodging the economic downturn bullet.

Hardly.

And I know you aren't either.

I hope you that I am not simply being Mr. Sunshine here.
