5 June 2008 - Hypocrisy of the Democratic Party...AGAIN!

I have held off a few days from making comments about the decisions on Saturday made by the Democratic Party.  Mainly, because I am not a Democrat, nor a Republican, so I really felt that I had no voice in this.  And I really don't.

But I do have perspective and here is a perspective that I have not shared with anyone besides Kathleen yet.

At dinner last night, Kathleen asked me what the Democrats had decided regarding Florida and Michigan.  She hadn't heard or hadn't remembered.  (She has other things to work on besides this stuff, for me, it is my job.)  So, I told her that the decision was made to seat all of the delegates but only give them half a vote.

So, if you are from Florida or Michigan, you are half a person according to the Democrats.

Let me direct you to Article 1, Section 2 and Paragraph 3 of the United States Constitution.

"Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons."

Hmmmm.......

Now, I don't want to go too far off track on my rant, but considering the history of Florida when it comes to elections, making them worth less than slaves may make sense.

But don't do that to Michigan.  I have family there.  Specifically, Kathy's family is there.

Anyhow, so Michiganders may be worth less than slaves to the Democrats, but at least they have the Stanley Cup back.

Of course, I really enjoy picking at the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party.  Same with the Republicans.  Remember when the Republicans stood for more individual freedoms and small government.  Ah, good times.

The Democrats have just got this horrible history they need to run from.  And they may have finally done so by nominating an African-American as their candidate for President.

I will point out that Barack Obama is not a decendant of slaves, but that his father truly was African.  This is possibly an important distinction.

What you need to remember is something that has been whitewashed from history by many.  That is the linkage of the Democratic Party and the Ku Klux Klan.   Then, of course, the old Jim Crow laws.  I could go on, but these are two horrible examples that the Dems want you to forget, or hope you never knew.

Enough of my history lesson for the day.  (To learn more, let me recommend Herman Cain's "They Think You're Stupid"...2005 release and well documented with lots of end notes.)

I guess it will be a long time before they nominate the decendant of a slave for the Presidency.

QUICK - Buy your Premier Walk-in Bath Tubs.  QUICKLY!!!  HURRY!!!

Ed McMahon is caught in the home foreclosure mess these days.

One of the best known pitchmen of all time, it is sad that he has had health problems which have preventing him from working.

I have to wonder how he got in to this mess at 85 years old.  He had to know he couldn't work forever.

Brilliant move by John McCain to invite Barack Obama to take part in a series of TEN town meeting events.

Stupid move by Barack Obama to call for a more open format, then reference the Lincoln-Douglas Senate Debates of 1858.

Uh, those were NOT open.  They were tedious, especially by today's standards.  Ninety minutes each followed by hour long rebuttals.  Not room for audience participation.

Sorry Senator Obama, you are talking out of both sides of your mouth.  AGAIN!!

Maybe he didn't know this part of history either.  Does Columbia University HAVE a history department?

Congratualtions to the Detroit Red Wings on their latest Stanley Cup win!!  Must have been a sign that Kathleen had my Red Wings sweater hanging in the closet yesterday.

The folks in Michigan need something to bring them up.  If you break the economy down on a state by state level, Michigan is not in a recession either.  They are in a DEPRESSION!!

Hopefully, the Cup coming back can help elevate the mood there.

Add this name as a possiblity in the GOP Veepstakes.

J.C. Watts

While I think a woman should be selected by both parties, Watts is an interesting option for John McCain.  He has pretty solid conservative credentials from his time in the U.S. House.

He is also a great speaker.  I saw him a few years back and he tells a great story over why he is a Republican and not a Democrat.  The short version is this....the Democrats told him what the could do for him and did do for him, the Republicans asked him to join them.

------------------

Back to yesterday's Veepstakes names, let me reference one that has been suggested by my good friend in Indiana, Dr. Roger J. Thompson.  He brought up Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison as a possibility.  Lot of time in the Senate with good conservative credentials.  Younger than John McCain, she turns 65 next month.

Texas is a large state, but I think the GOP will get that state anyway.

I had heard her name mentioned prior to Roger bring it up, but he put me in the position to thinking about her again.

Yesterday afternoon, I heard Goveror Sarah Palin's name raised again.  I am not saying that I brought her name up first, but I brought it up early.  It was on Fox News Channel's "American's Election HQ" show with Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly.

Claire McCaskill has said that she does NOT want to be Barack Obama's running mate, nor in his cabinet if he is elected.  She'd rather carry water for him in the Senate.

Again, this could be the first time ever that a running mate matters in a Presidential election.
